Hi there, curly girls and boys!
Welcome to our monthly newsletter. This month at the CGM Club HQ we’ve been talking about our favourite curly hair hacks, and we want to share them with you!
There’s a ‘hack’ for everything these days - the perfect cheese toastie, cakes in mugs (our personal favourite), and the best way to fold your laundry.
But, when it comes to making the best of our waves, curls and coils, it can often be a case of just using the best products available (ours of course!), and hoping for the best!
But not any longer!
We’ve been searching social media, curly hair forums, and asking our expert team for the very best curly hair hacks around, in order to bring you the very best tips and tricks for getting the very most out of your CGM Club products!
Cup of tea or coffee at the ready? Plate of biscuits on the go?
Good.
Then we’ll begin…
Curly Hair Hack #1
Deep Conditioning and Co-Washing At The Same Time
No we haven’t gone nuts…
As curlies, we know the importance of using a deep conditioning treatment. Maybe you’re a once-a-week kind of gal, or maybe you feel that your dry tresses could benefit from a bit more conditioning ‘oomph’.
For soft, frizz-free curls in a fraction of the time it takes to deep condition (hey, we know that between work, the kids, and everything else you’ve got going on it’s not always possible to lavish the amount of attention on your hair as you’d like!), why not try this fool-proof hack.
While showering, coat the ends of your wet hair with our Treat It deep conditioning treatment to quench thirsty hair and lock in moisture. Then, without rinsing it out, co-wash with our life-changing conditioning wash product - aptly-named, Co-Wash - and massage well into your scalp and lengths before rinsing.
The results will speak for themselves. You can thank us later!
Curly Hair Hack #2
Gel. And Then Gel Again
If, when you think about styling your hair with gel, your mind instantly harks back to the crunchy, Ramen noodle looking curls of the 90s, you probably use it rather sparingly.
But, for some hair types, using more gel than you think is necessary can work wonders for your curls.
Scrunch a small amount of Style It, our non-sticky hold gel for all-day frizz control and definition with no flakiness, into soaking wet hair. When your hair is about 80% air or diffused dry, apply the same amount again and allow your hair to dry fully.
When you scrunch out the crunch, you’re really going to see the difference!
Curly Hair Hack #3
Ditch The Towel
We’re talking about your bog-standard bath towel here, whose fibres can rough up the hair’s cuticles, leading to frizz and less definition.
Instead, wrap your hair in a 100% cotton t-shirt - or, even better, our Plush Microfibre Hair Towel (available in adults’ and kids’ sizes!). This handy little curly hair essential includes a built-in loop and button fastening to secure it in place and to make plopping a cinch! - and all without having to wreck your (or your other half’s!) favourite t-shirt!
If you’re not already wrapping your delicate wet curls like this once you’ve washed, you’re really missing out!
Curly Hair Hack #4
Apply Your Leave-In When Your Hair’s Not Too Wet
Instead of applying your leave-in conditioner to soaking wet hair, try scrunching out the excess water first and then applying some of our Strength And Shine Leave-In evenly through your hair with your fingers.
Our unique formula strengthens the hair shaft without causing child-up or flakiness, so try on hair that’s wet - but not soaking! - and enjoy manageable, shiny curls.
Curly Hair Hack #5
Why Condition Once When You Can Condition Twice?
The great thing about using a Co-Wash is that you can use it in place of a traditional shampoo AND as a conditioner - but why condition just the once?
If your hair is feeling extra dry as the weather changes, give this tried-and-tested curly hair hack a try!
After co-washing with a good old scalp scrub and a rinse, apply a generous amount to the lengths and ends, fully detangling from roots to ends. Then, apply another layer and wrap the hair for 10-15 minutes before rinsing thoroughly with cold water.
The results are serious shine and curl definition and optimal hair hydration!
