April 2021 Newsletter

Happy April Curlies! The weather is finally getting warmer - AND we can even meet up with some friends and enjoy a drink in a pub garden - how lovely to finally be able to give our curls an outing!

As the seasons change we know that our hair changes with it - some curls love the humidity and start to come to life….others drop, and we might find that our routine needs to change slightly to compensate. Some curlies might find that they need creamier styling products to keep frizz at bay, that they need more moisture - or even that they can forgo the products altogether.

Do your coils enjoy more casual styles as the weather warms up? Or are you already bracing yourself for a multitude of updos to deal with the unruliness?!

At CGM Club - we feel you! Which is why we’ve put together some of our top tips for nourishing, hydrating and controlling your curls all summer long!

Turn Down The Heat!

We all know that excessive heat styling can take its toll on our hair - but that doesn’t mean we want to give it up altogether. Hot tools - even just a hair dryer - can be very drying to your hair at a time when your locks need moisture the most, so try and give the thermal styling a rest during the summer months if you can!

The warmer weather makes it easier to air-dry (no more heading out in the cold with damp hair!) so we’re heading into the perfect season to wash, apply styling products, and go!

Try A Cute Curly Cut

If you love your long mane but have been toying with the idea of a new, shorter style, now’s the perfect time of year to take the plunge. Avoid sweaty-neck and months of buns and braids by trying out a cute, curly cut. Modern short curly styles softly frame the face and open you up to a whole new world of styling possibilities and adorable accessories.

Don’t Scrimp On The Deep Conditioning

Moisture is a curly girl’s best friend, and there’s no better way to keep those waves and spirals hydrated than with a regular deep conditioning treatment. If you’re guilty of skipping your weekly deep condition, we massively recommend you get back into the habit in time for summer!

This is the perfect time of year to give CGM Club’s 5-star rated ‘Treat It’ a go! High in moisture-replenishing fatty acids, this deep conditioning treatment softens, smooths, and quenches the thirst of your curls. PLUS it protects your locks from sunlight and pollution - bonus!! And don’t forget to lock that moisture in afterwards by using ‘Seal It’ - a lightweight oil specially formulated to seal in hydration, add shine, and protect your curls from humidity.

If You’re Not Already - Skip The Shampoo!

Here at CGM Club we are huge advocates of Co-washing (that is, using a specially formulated cleansing conditioner, instead of a shampoo to wash those ringlets). If you’re someone who still uses a traditional shampoo (hey, we don’t judge here - what works for some, doesn’t for others!), consider swapping it out for a co-wash - even if you only do it every other wash.

In the warmer weather, we tend to wash our hair more often, and a shampoo containing sulphates can dry out our hair and scalp. Our Co-Wash is sulphate and silicone free, and contains no drying alcohol or waxes and leaves hair thoroughly clean and beautifully moisturised.

If you’re feeling that you need a bit of a middle step between shampoo and co-washing, our Co-Wash + is the product that can bridge that gap! Offering a few more cleansing and clarifying properties than our standard Co-Wash, Co-Wash + is perfect for those who struggle with oily scalp or are still in the transition stage of their curly hair journey.

However you plan on enjoying the warmer temperatures that are on the way, we want you (and your hair!) to stay well, healthy and hydrated!

We’ll be back next month with another info-filled newsletter - and don’t forget - the first rule of CGM Club is TALK about CGM Club! If you know someone who could benefit from our curly knowledge, why not invite them to join our super-friendly curly girl community!

Until next month - bye, curlies!
